Nina DeCesare

Nina DeCesare is a double bassist in the Oregon Symphony who recently finished her studies with Paul Ellison at Rice University. She has attended the Tanglewood Music Festival, Domaine Forget Academy, Wabass Institute for the 21st Bass Player, Sarasota Music Festival, and the Moritzburg Academy in Germany.

 

In February 2014, Nina performed a solo on the Millennium Stage at the Kennedy Center, representing the Shepherd School of Music in the Conservatory Series. 

Nina spent the summer of 2012 studying with the virtuosic and revolutionary François Rabbath in Paris, France, as a Wagoner Fellow, bestowed from Rice University.

She has performed in several competitions and won first prize in the International Society of Bassists Solo Competition in both the 14 and Under and the 15–18 age divisions, the University of Texas Bassfest Concerto Competition and the Chesapeake River Series Concerto Competition. Gayle Williams from the Sarasota Herald Tribune reviewed Nina as “riveting with her virtuosic display.”
